The Laco Pilot Watches Original pay tribute to the historic observation watches of the 1940s, known as B-Uhr (Beobachtungsuhren). Originally, these watches could only be manufactured by a very limited number of companies authorized by the Reichsluftfahrtministerium (RLM) and were conceived as navigation instruments with a large 55 mm diameter.
Alongside IWC, Lange & Söhne, Stowa and Wempe, Laco was one of the five original manufacturers that laid the foundations of one of the great icons of watchmaking. Today, the German brand offers the most faithful reconstructions of these pilot watches, preserving their historic character and design.

In addition to the version with the original 55 mm diameter, the collection is available in contemporary case sizes of 39, 42 and 45 mm. Each component is proportionally adapted to the respective size, always based on the original historical construction plans.
The current models retain many features of the original timepieces, such as the iconic logo-free dial to avoid distractions, Type A (Baumuster A) or Type B (Baumuster B) dial layouts, and the characteristic straight-lug case shape with a matte finish to reduce reflections in the cockpit.
Legibility, both day and night, remains a key priority. While radioactive materials were used in the past, modern models rely exclusively on safe Super-LumiNova. The distinctive oversized crown allows for easy operation, even when wearing gloves.
The lateral engraving “FL 23883” refers to a former classification number rather than a serial number. On historic models this engraving was located inside the case, whereas on current versions it is displayed on the exterior. The rivets on the leather strap, which once served a structural purpose, are now preserved as a purely aesthetic reference to the original design.
This model is powered by the Laco 210 manual-winding movement, based on the reliable Sellita SW 210. The case is crafted from stainless steel with a dark sandblasted finish and features the “FL 23883” engraving. It is fitted with a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and a solid engraved case back.
The dial features numerals and indices treated with Super-LumiNova C3, while the thermally blued steel hands are filled with the same luminous material to ensure excellent readability in all lighting conditions.
The watch is completed with a brown calfskin leather strap with rivets and is delivered in a presentation watch box with an outer cardboard box included.
